FESS is developing a series of projects to assist in implementing solutions to challenges facing resource-rich countries in the developing world and the companies operating within their borders. FESS efforts capitalize on public-private partnership opportunities that help to ensure responsible mining practices over the life of mining projects and enable mining to function as a driver of economic diversification, sustainable development, and effective community participation. The FESS approach to extractive industry issues considers the value of natural resources within the broader socio-economic context of a country or region, and identifies specific opportunities to manage these resources in a way that optimizes responsible mining practices, transparency, and economic growth, while minimizing the potential for conflict and misuse of resources.
